Homemade Broth Recipe

Worn out on protein shakes and sugar-free popsicles? Take a page from LaShawn’s book and make your own beef broth. Trust me- it will be worth it.

LaShawn’s Homemade Beef Broth Recipe

Makes 8 servings

2 pounds stew meat (available at any grocery)

2 yellow onions, peeled and cut in half

3 cloves garlic, peeled and whole

4-5 carrots, cut into large chunks

4-5 ribs of celery, cut into large chunks

1 can Rotel tomatoes, undrained

1 Tbsp. Tony Cachere’s seasoning

8 cups water

Salt and pepper to taste

Combine all ingredients in a large pot. Cook on medium-high until boiling, then turn heat down to low and and cover pot. Simmer for about 20 minutes, or until beef is cooked through. Strain juice and discard all other ingredients. Serve immediately, or after the pot has cooled, transfer to containers to freeze. Heat individual servings in coffee mug or microwave-safe container until warm.

Feel free to modify recipe to meet your tastes! Substitute stew meat for skinless chicken breasts, substitute Rotel for canned diced tomatoes, substitute Tony Cachere’s for Italian seasoning.
